Physical entry control system

The physical entry control system of a facility includes all the technologies, procedures, databases, and personnel that are used to monitor the movement of people and materials into and out of a facility. It functions by allowing the movement of authorized personnel and material through normal access routes and by detecting and delaying the unauthorized movement of personnel or material.
Multiple methods of personnel entry authorization can be applied including ID badges, temporary passes, personal identification numbers (PIN), or biometric verification. And for Prohibited item detection, x-ray scanning, metal detection, or manual searches are done.
An effective entry control system cannot be easily bypassed, it involves monitoring of the process, response force, ensures protection of guards, can accommodate peak loads, performs both personnel and material control, blocks passage until the process is complete, it is under CCTV surveillance and integrated with the central alarm system, provides secondary inspection for those who cannot pass the automated inspection and is designed for both entry and exit.
